Eat Out on the Water at the Hole in the Wall Restaurant

If you’ve been doing any research at all about visiting Roatan (continuing on our Roatan excursions), then you have probably run across The Hole in the Wall restaurant in Jonesville. This infamous restaurant has been through a lot in recent years, after the original Hole in HoleintheWallthe Wall was destroyed by a fire in July of 2005.

The Hole in the Wall is open for lunch and dinner and also offers private BBQ parties for 12 people or more on any day of the week but Sunday. Sunday is when the party really gets going! Every Sunday the Hole in the Wall has an all you can eat dinner with the general fare being lobster, BBQ meat, shrimp, mashed potatoes, beans, fresh baked bread (home-made), cole-slaw (I’m told it’s home-made too), and of course, dessert.

One of the coolest things about the Hole in the Wall restaurant is that it is not accessible by car. To get there, take a car to Jonesville and then go to the end of the paved road. You can leave the car there; there is plenty of space to park in. There you will see a boat offering service to the Hole in the Wall restaurant. The boat, which is part of the Hole in the Wall experience, starts running back and forth to land at noon.

If you feel like exploring a traditional Roatan community, then take the time to enjoy Jonesville. (Lunch is served late on at the Hole in the Wall anyways.) Jonesville sees a lot of visitors, but they don’t tend to make a lasting impression; there is only one gift shop in this little town. The town is quiet, and mostly populated by local islanders, so you may stand out a little bit walking down the street. No worries though, they are used to the traffic due to the popularity of the Hole in the Wall restaurant.

You might also want to take advantage of the time in Jonesville and take a tour of the mangroves. They are pretty impressive.

To make reservations for a private BBQ or if you have any questions you can email the folks at Hole in the Wall by clicking this email link.
