It seems that the majority of Latin America is excited that Barack Obama has been elected into office. Most are hopeful that his presidency will mark the beginning of better relations between the their respective country and the United States.
What did Honduran President Manuel Zelaya have to say about Obama’s election? The following quote is taken from Just the Facts, a web-site designed to educate civilian’s on the United States involvement in the defense and security of Latin America and the Caribbean. President Manuel Zelaya said:
Barack Obama’s victory is one for the entire world, and is for everyone, who in any moment of their lives, have fought for momentous changes through social organization, for civil rights, human rights, to combat inequality. It deserves sincere congratulations to the American population, to the president-elect, and to those who chivalrously accepted defeat.

I am a Christian man who wishes to start a Charity Home for street children. An abandoned Military base would be a good place to start. I hope to take these children and raise them and to educate them to be good citizens of your country rather than being a problem for your government. I hope to finance this project myself, and only be a benefit to your government and to your credit. Thank you so very much. I hope to change the lives of many helpless little children!
