Manuel may have strained relationships last month when he spoke rather strongly about the United States involvement in Central America. Zelaya feels the US is a promoter of Coup d’états, national uprisings within the region.
Zelaya has also defended Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, saying that we should respect his ideas, and allow him to express himself. Zelaya also stated that he agrees with some of what Chavez preaches.
For now, Zelaya may be throwing around some strong opinions, but he is also working hard to improve the current state of affairs for Honduran nationals.
