Relaxing on Roatan

Out of the Blue on the West Bay of Roatan Island is the perfect place to kick back and relax. It may not be the fanciest of places, but Snokey, the manager, and Marlon, her assistant, make this the most enjoyable of stays, and they even speak decent English! With the beach in one direction, and a whole slew of bars and restaurants in the other, you can’t go wrong. Hon4Image

The kitchen is stocked with all the necessary cooking tools, and it, along with the barbeque, invites you to do some cooking of your own. The Mini Mart stocks the basics, and if they don’t have what you need, they’ll help you find it. Free internet and a practically private stretch of beach with a deck are the icing on the cake. Sometimes the electricity goes out, and Marlon has to fire up the generator, but that just adds to the experience! Book a week at Out of the Blue, and a double room will cost you just over 20 USD per person.

We stayed at Out Of The Blue in December ’08. It was aweful. Place was definitely NOT clean. Bugs, i.e. red ants, lived in walls and came out everywhere at night. No hot water. Septic dirty water backed up into our clothes in washing machine. Sheets looked and smelled dirty, many of us got bit up by bugs while we slept. We had to leave for something adequate and owners have ignored our complaints since we prepaid and have no legal recourse to recoup moneys for nights we didn’t stay there. ROATAN HAS MUCH BETTER LODGINGS AVAILABLE!!! (i.e. Las Rocas, just down the beach)

I would not reccommend Out Of The Blue for anyone unless you like a dirty buggy place to stay. When problems occurred and we had to make other room arraingements for our entire family in the middle of our vacation. We have had no response to our many e-mails to Ms Dias

Although I respect the opinions of Eric and Jim I cannot let their comments pass unanswered.
I have stayed w the Diaz family 3-4 times and had a wonderful experience each time. The rooms were not fancy but they were certainly clean. I never had any issues w service or room quality.
In fact my experience at OOTB was far better than many I have had at much fancier and more expensive reorts/hotels.
Of course I didn’t hang around the rooms or worry about laundry…
